How To Find Cheap Tire Deals On A Budget
Here is a surprise we all like to hear when we get a routine tire rotation: I cannot legally rotate your tires because they are balding and you will need new ones. Great! Isn’t that what you wanted to hear?
If you are well off at the moment then it will not be a big deal to shell out $500+ for a new set of tires. But if you are pinching pennies at the moment you will happy to know that there are four tips in the following article that will help you find cheap tires at half the cost.
Check Craigslist
If you look under the automotive section you will see individuals and tire shops trying to get rid of excess inventory by selling sets of tires of a fraction of what they are worth.
I recently bought a pair of SUV tires for $120 installed from a local shop that was moving to a new location and wanted to get rid of all its tires in the yard. The previous tire shop had quoted me $650 for the same set.
Ask For Slightly Used Tired Tires
Small tire shops buy and sell used tires. Many times they have slightly used tires in stock that have over 70{450b18fb4e8f5b95db3807a9753b1e0519d3e4d461dd68e5594bed7fc3eeb7ae} tread on them. They sell these used tires at half the price of new ones.
I rarely go brand new any longer. Once I found out about this I also go for the used tires. They last virtually just as long and cost me less than half the price of never-before-used ones.
Junk Yard
Many times vehicles with perfectly good tires are scrapped because the body of the car is damaged beyond what it is worth to fix it. You will find loads of junk cars with terrible body damage but its tires perfectly intact.
If you own a newer higher priced vehicle I would strongly recommend you go this route. You can find some high end tires for extremely cheap prices.
Negotiate A Better Deal
Here is something that you would think more people would do: just ask for a better deal than was quoted you. Tires have a huge mark-up. Small and large shops have a lot of room to play with and still make a decent profit. No matter what amount you are given ask for twenty-percent off. If you are feeling ballsy ask for more. The most they can say is not. But trust me, they will do anything within reason not to let you walk out and go to someone else.
